Firestarter
Grilling and such is no joke. And despite my best efforts I have managed to start three fires in one grill device and flame out with another. And I mean serious fires.
So, my advice to you, if you are smoking or burning meats and stuff, is to make sure there is a fire extinguisher handy. And leave that damn hose alone, because 9 times out of 10 that fire involves grease, and if it does, throwing water on it is going to make a bad situation even worse.
If you don’t have a fire extinguisher, I suggest you get one. And if you can’t get one, then really, don’t grill. But if you feel the need to bend to the pressure on those that have the taste of burned meats in their mouths, then maybe have some backing soda and flour on hand, just in case.
Look, you may think it won’t happen to you, but even the best outdoor grillers experience a fire a time or two. So, be prepared.
So, be safe. Oh, I guess I didn’t discuss the flame out. A flame out is scary, and mostly user error. I have a pellet grill and one of the first times I used it, I turned it on without having done a proper shut down from the previous cook. I also didn’t take the time to vacuum out the fire pot. That won’t ever happen again. In any event, when a flame out occurs, you’ll see a bunch of smoke coming out of every part of the device. The video below that I found on YouTube gives a pretty good explanation of a flameout.
Be safe when cooking outdoors. Stay safe. Be prepared.
